Communication in 6G era and advanced sensing technologies

As the generation of mobile communication systems has shifted, the nature of communication has also changed drastically. 4G took a big step forward from its main use of data communication for general consumers and to the industrial domain in 5G. The significance of connecting more devices to the cloud through 5G's highly reliable and low-latency communications in this domain is to realize the reproduction of physical world on digital world (digital twin). In 6G, it is expected that the reproducibility of physical world in digital world will be enhanced through further advancement of sensing and localization technologies. In this session, we will introduce Nokia's vision of communication in the 6G era and key elemental technologies such as sensing.

Nobuyuki Uchida is an Executive Officer and Division Manager for the Technology, Strategy & Compliance Division at Rakuten Mobile. He joined Rakuten Mobile in 2018, and currently oversees the technology strategy vision for the company that includes spectrum, standards, satellite communication and government relations.

Prior to Rakuten Mobile, Uchida spent 19 years at Qualcomm, one of Rakuten Mobile’s key partners. He was responsible for M2M/IoT standards as Director of Engineering at Qualcomm Japan. From 2002 through 2007, Uchida worked on 3GPP2 standards development at the Corporate R&D Division at Qualcomm.

Utilizing 5G, the "FlyingView" based on the AI edge computer“AE 2100”which can monitor surrounding images of mobility in real time from the viewpoint of drones enables safety monitoring by remote operators and smooth support for remote control operations. In local 5G, it is necessary to evaluate service area communication quality, and to consider the area drawing required for license application. This seminar is introduced radio wave simulation software useful for local 5G. Wireless InSite can be used for studying base station specifications and installation locations via a site-specific evaluation of quality in a service area. KCAMP, an area drawing tool for license application for preparing documents for license application. This is achieved by easily drawing the coverage area and the area to be adjusted for local 5G and BWA.

Software Defined 5G New Radio Demonstration with Opensource
Build a 5G software defined gNodeb (basestation) and a UE on Ubuntu18.04, using an open source LTE/5G NR implementation, "OpenAirInterface" and SDR devices. Trying to run a video stream as a 5G NR down link data stream.
This demonstration work is a part of a national research and development project*.

5G Model Network Simulation
We released the 5G model module of System Level Network Simulator "QualNet". It would make 5G research and Beyond 5G research accelerate more.
In this demo video, we show the sample of Handover and the difference of the throughput and the delay between SA mode and NSA mode.
Network Emulator【fenneq】
"fenneq" is the Network Emulation Software where you can make the virtual network topology and configuration easily by GUI.
Usage: the primary design of network architecture, application verification, the virtual experiment tool for the education.

Wi-Fi Sensing -IEEE802.11bf,Measurement tool,Example of application-

In recent years, Wi-Fi sensing, which performs human action recognition and position detection using Wi-Fi radio waves without using a camera, has attracted attention. The Task Group bf (WLAN Sensing) of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group discusses the standard specification. In this lecture, I introduce the trend of IEEE 802.11 bf, various tools for measuring channel state information, and examples of its application.
