It requires higher speeds than previous LPWA and a wider area than previous Wi-Fi. The essential enabler is IEEE 802.11ah, Wi-Fi for IoT that anyone can freely deploy. The capabilities, expected usage scenarios, and the next step for 802.11ah, which began commercial deployment last September, are introduced.
