Efforts to revitalize regions and industry using private wireless/IoT by NTT east japan.

In recent years, due to the declining birthrate, aging population, and decreasing labor force, there has been a strong desire to improve productivity and save labor in the field, and there is a need for technologies that realize digital transformation (DX) of industrial society, such as robotics and AI, and support them. Private wireless technologies such as local 5G and LPWA are expected to serve as critical infrastructure.
At NTT East, we are working on manufacturing and logistics DX using the managed local 5G service "Gigaraku 5G", improving resident services for local governments and regions using LPWA/11ah, disaster prevention measures, etc. through multi-access private wireless technology. We are working on industrial DX and regional revitalization by responding to the needs of diverse customers and providing optimal network solutions that combine wired and wireless networks. In this lecture, we will introduce specific initiatives that utilize them.

DOCOMO's effort to the Beyond 5G Era

In the future, while increasing digitalization will make our lives more convenient, there are concerns about a sense of social injustice due to the widening digital divide, a shortage of workers due to the declining birthrate and aging population, and a decline in the meaning of life in daily life. In response to this future image, DOCOMO aims to contribute new value to society and build a sustainable future through advanced technologies and innovations, thereby promoting the development of society as a whole and realizing a well-being life for people. We will introduce social implementation initiatives such as the Metaverse, which provides new opportunities for people to play an active role by freeing them from constraints such as space, time, and body; the Generative AI, which dramatically improves productivity of individuals and industries; and the Human Augmentation Platform🄬, which removes traditional communication barriers through emotions, thoughts, and five senses. We will also introduce R&D of the advancement of 5G networks and next-generation mobile networks for the 6G and IOWN era that support these initiatives.
