An OAI-based 5G network evaluation platform bridging simulation and hardware testing
In the R&D of 5G/6G, balancing pre-verification through simulation with operational validation on actual equipment is an indispensable process. Conventionally, however, the software platforms used for each have differed, leading to low reusability of implementation assets and making the decline in development efficiency a pressing issue.
In this presentation, we propose a new network evaluation environment based on OpenAirInterface (OAI) that seamlessly integrates simulation and real-world experimentation using the same software assets. We will detail the implementation techniques essential for adapting OAI—originally designed for real-world deployment—to function as a network simulator, and introduce specific R&D use cases utilizing this evaluation platform.
