New features of Wireless InSite ~Accelerate the simulation based on R&D for Beyond 5G and 6G~

3D ray tracing simulator, "Wireless InSite", releases two major functions to simulate the radio propagation oriented R&D projects toward Beyond 5G and 6G.

The first major function is about RIS which allows modeling of passive metasurfaces, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS), Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) etc. to simulate non-specular reflection and transmission, which will increase wireless communication coverage.

The second major function is Fading Tool for Wireless InSite.
This fading tool is a post-processing calculator for Wireless InSite.
The calculation scheme is compliant with the report published by 3GPP, which is a well known standardization organization.
Fading tool can generate the time-variant radio propagation environments based on the Wireless InSite result.
It can support Beyong 5G and 6G R&D and its validation, such as V2X (vehicular to everything) and beamforming of up to 100 GHz band.

A New Approach to Improving the Wireless Environment: Beyond Radio Propagation with Network Simulation

Wireless communication is expected to be widely used in various industrial fields. However, there are many issues involved in the construction of wireless communication environments, and problems frequently occur, such as the inability to connect or to achieve the expected performance. To address these problems, the analysis of radio propagation is currently used as a common solution. However, this approach alone may not optimize the wireless environment or solve the underlying problem.
Therefore, we would like to utilize "network simulation" to not only analyze radio propagation, but also to study network behavior. Network simulation provides not only static information about the reachability of radio waves, but also dynamic insights into the behavior and performance of the entire network, thus increasing the possibility of optimizing the wireless communication environment and solving problems.
This presentation will discuss the optimization of wireless communication environments and problem solving using network simulation with specific examples and methods. We believe that this presentation will provide interesting information to those who are facing issues surrounding wireless communication technology, as well as to those who are actually involved in the construction and operation of wireless environments and other business people. We hope that this presentation will contribute to the optimization of the wireless communication environment and become a new approach to support efficiency and innovation in various industries.

Effective approach to wireless interfaces test with IoT wireless tester

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are supported as wireless interfaces by devices for various industries. Although both transmitter tests and receiver tests for RF interfaces are defined to guarantee the qualities, they are difficult for engineers who are not familiar with wireless tests. One of the difficulties for them is the complicated process to set devices to test modes. On the other hand, they have to take long time to identify the root cause when they face interoperability issues. At that time, they have to do RF test items for verification. In this session, the effective ways to use IoT wireless tester, which does not require the special setup of devices, for R&D and QA process driven by engineers who are not familiar with wireless tests.

The latest trends in Wi-SUN as global adoption accelerates Wi-SUN FAN, Route IoT, and Enhanced HAN in the spotlight

In 2012, Began developing the Wi-SUN FAN (Field Area Network) specification, an international standard that will enable the use of Wi-SUN FANs not only in the home but also for various indoor and outdoor applications. In January 2019, the Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 certification program was launched, and products were released by various companies at the same time.

The Wi-SUN FAN 1.1 specification, which is a highly enhanced version of Wi-SUN FAN 1.0 while maintaining backward compatibility, is in the final stages of formulation and development by member companies. SUN IoT route, which is the most promising candidate for joint meter reading of electricity, gas, and water meters. In this seminar, the Wi-SUN Alliance Ecosystem companies will explain the related products and services.

Wi-SUN Alliance was established in Japan in 2011 and is now a global organization with over 300 members in 46 countries. Since its inception, Wi-SUN Alliance members have been working to establish international standard specifications based on the international standard IEEE 802.15.4 as a wireless communication standard for smart cities and utilities, including Wi-SUN B Route, Wi-SUN FAN, Enhanced HAN, Route IoT, JUTA, etc., and have built an ecosystem of international standards. The Wi-SUN B Route, Wi-SUN FAN, Enhanced HAN, Route IoT, JUTA, and other members have taken the lead in developing specifications for international standards and building ecosystems that have been adopted in worldwide.

Remote Monitoring of Social Infrastructure Evolving with Surveillance Cameras and AI

In the midst of a serious labor shortage, the maintenance and management of social infrastructure is in a critical state. Various technologies are being considered to combat this problem, the most practical of which is the use of surveillance cameras to remotely acquire video footage. This will reduce the frequency of dispatching workers to the site to deal with malfunctions, etc., and will also make it possible to replace periodic patrols, etc., by means of remotely obtained images. Thus, the use of camera images for remote monitoring of social infrastructure has become a major trend.
Amnimo Corporation, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, is a rapidly growing company that provides robust IoT devices and cloud services that streamline operations using video. The LTE gateway provided by Amnimo has features rarely found in conventional LTE devices, such as a PoE power supply to surveillance cameras, automatic restart when the camera freezes, and an anti-momentary power loss function that keeps the device running for a while even when the external power supply is cut off. Amnimo's LTE gateway is also equipped with a function that is rarely found in conventional LTE devices.
Amnimo's cloud service for video enables recording to the SSD installed in the gateway and uploading important video to the cloud for viewing, thereby realizing rich video processing functions without increasing the volume of data transmitted over LTE communications.
Furthermore, we are currently developing an AI edge gateway equipped with a chip capable of high-speed AI computation with low power consumption, and anomaly detection using image AI will be added as a new business domain.
In this presentation, we will explain how Amnimo's video solutions and image AI will evolve the remote monitoring of social infrastructures, referring to case studies
